Jazz Vocalist Kristina Ray breathes new life into the timeless standard
“It Had to Be You”

— Acclaimed jazz vocalist Kristina Ray returns with a new recording of
the beloved Jazz standard, “It Had to Be You,” that she reimagined with
new arrangement from the 1924 original composition by Isham Jones
with lyrics by Gus Kahn. The song was recorded in Spring of 2022 in
Parisian studio Bop City with the likes of musicians of:
Jeremy Hinnekens(piano), Félix Hunot (guitar), Germain Cornet (drums),
Michelangelo Scandroglio (double bass) and Kristina Ray on vocals,
arrangement and production.
They have decided to re-master the song and re-release it on 27th of June(This Friday).
With her velvety tone, impeccable phrasing, and deep emotional resonance, Kristina Ray captures the essence of old-school romance while infusing the track with her signature modern sensibility. The new arrangement balances elegance and intimacy, offering a graceful swing that pays homage to the golden age of jazz while speaking directly to contemporary audiences.
